2023 Cadillac Lyriq Revealed With Over 300-Mile Range

The Lyriq SUV will be the first all-electric Cadillac. Expected to go on sale as a 2023 model in early 2022, the luxurious SUV will be built from the ground up with new battery technology and feature more than 300 miles of range. Here’s what we know so far.

Under the hood.

Under the hood, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will probably have a front trunk. That’s because it will have an electric motor on the rear axle, freeing up a lot of space while providing electric rear-wheel drive. It will also have an optional AWD system that includes a second motor at the front, generating more power.

The Lyriq will use new Ultium battery technology, which GM says can make batteries up to 200 kWh. For the Lyriq, Cadillac is expected to use a 100-kWh battery that can provide more than 300 miles of range per charge.

Interior and infotainment.

Cadillac has revealed a concept vehicle for the Lyric that showed off a stunningly beautiful interior with a huge, 33-inch curved LED display spanning most of the width of the dashboard, like the one in the Escalade, which can be controlled via click wheel on the center console.

According to the automaker, its new, dedicated EV architecture has allowed it to create a more spacious cabin. Electric vehicles are very quiet, meaning you hear a lot more of the road noises that a traditional engine would mask, so Cadillac is also investing in more advanced noise cancellation technology.

Future Cadillac EV Could Be Called SYMBOLIQ

You’ve already met the Cadillac LYRIQ, the first all-electric vehicle from Cadillac that’s forging a path to a brighter future. But Cadillac isn’t planning to stop with one dynamic luxury crossover. A recent trademark filing suggests that Cadillac is planning to leverage the names SYMBOLIQ, OPTIQ, and CELESTIQ.

According to GM Authority, Cadillac filed to trademark the names with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in July. While trademarked names don’t always pan out with actual vehicles, it seems that the intent is to build on the impressive debut of the Cadillac LYRIQ with a full lineup of electric vehicles.

In August, Cadillac finally revealed its long-awaited LYRIQ electric luxury crossover. The wait was well worth it: The LYRIQ is looks the part of the Cadillac of the future, and it sets a strong precedent for future Cadillac EVs to come.

The Cadillac LYRIQ is the latest vehicle to offer Super Cruise™ hands-free technology and will blaze a new trail with a dual-plane augmented reality-enhanced head-up display. Taking a cue from the 2021 Cadillac Escalade, the LYRIQ boasts a 33-inch-diagonal LED display that spans the driver’s viewing area for a fully immersive experience.

Performance and efficiency are also key to the Cadillac LYRIQ with an advanced Ultium battery system, near-50/50 weight distribution, and available performance all-wheel drive. Cadillac also expects the LYRIQ to return 300 miles of range on a single charge, making it great for daily driving and long road trips.*

The Cadillac LYRIQ show car will inspire the production version set to arrive at ELCO Cadillac in Ballwin, Missouri, in the near future. Once the LYRIQ becomes a success, don’t be too surprised if you hear about the Cadillac SYMBOLIQ, OPTIQ, and CELESTIQ following close behind. Cadillac looks to lead the charge in making electrified driving a reality, and you’ll find all of its advances right here at ELCO Cadillac.
