Cadillac hopes to be 100 percent electric by 2030

100 Percent Electric By 2030 | ELCO Cadillac | Ballwin, MO

Cadillac has seen the future, and it’s electric — or at least most of it is. Late last year, Reuters reported that the head of Cadillac, Steve Carlisle, announced that all – or a majority – of its vehicles would be 100 percent electric by 2030. That means that within the next decade, we’ll be able to watch the automaker that defined American luxury completely redefine the EV market and up the game for the rest of the industry.

If you follow the Cadillac brand closely, you’re probably not surprised by this news. Cadillac has dabbled in electric vehicles a fair amount up to this point, and has mentioned its plans for an all-electric future multiple times. Moreover, it just announced an all-new, fully electric crossover SUV called the Lyric.

There’s been a fair amount of speculation regarding what might happen to some beloved Cadillac models if the brand moves forward with its electric future? Cadillac was sure to say its lineup might be mostly electric by 2030, meaning fan favorites, like the Escalade, could theoretically continue as a gas model, even if an EV version is also on offer.

While you and the rest of the world wait to learn more about Cadillac’s upcoming electric crossover – as well as their future lineup – feel free to stop by ELCO Chevrolet Cadillac and experience the vehicles that represent the current pinnacle of American luxury.

Meet the Cadillac Live Virtual Showroom

2020 Cadillac

Cadillac is revolutionizing car shopping with the all-new Cadillac Live Virtual Showroom experience. Unveiled at the end of last year, Cadillac Live puts visual technology and video chat in the hands of product specialists to help customers find the car that’s right for them. Imagine shopping for a new car without ever having the leave the comfort of your home.

How does it work? So far, Cadillac has only launched the program in Canada, but it works by giving a dealership product specialists an iPhone X, an Osmo Mobile gimbal, and a Bluetooth headset to conduct a chat session with car buyers online. Not only can specialists show off ten different vehicles and their features, they also have a tablet app that lets you demo color schemes, trims, and more.

The idea behind the Cadillac Live Virtual Showroom is twofold. First, many luxury car shoppers switch automakers if the car-buying process is simpler with a different brand — one reason Cadillac is aiming to streamline the process as much as possible. Additionally, Cadillac Live appeals to those who might not live in the vicinity of a dealership but still want a personalized shopping experience.

The new virtual showroom is set to come to the US shortly as well, first to California, Illinois, New Jersey, and New York before the rest of the country. This is just one of many ways Cadillac is revolutionizing the car-buying experience, like they’ve defined the luxury vehicle market for decades.

While you’re waiting for the Cadillac Live Virtual Showroom to roll out nationwide, consider paying us a visit at ELCO Chevrolet Cadillac for a tour or a test drive.

Cadillac Launches XT6 Campaign with Russo Brothers

XT6 Russo Brothers

The Russo brothers, best known for directing several “Avengers” films, recently partnered with Cadillac to unveil to the long-awaited XT6. Cadillac knows XT6 customers are ready for an adventure, and what better way to kick off the adventurous XT6’s campaign than with the highest ever grossing film directors of all time.

Deborah Wahl, Cadillac’s chief marketing officer, said of their decision to team with the Russo brothers, it “was the perfect way to bring this vision to life.”

Cadillac offers a wide array of paint and interior schemes on the XT6, but the Russo brothers seemed to have their eyes on the striking Shadow Metallic finish with a tan leather interior.

The title for the project, “Crew Ready,” seems to indicate the XT6 is ready to take you and your “crew,” anywhere you need to go. All set to the tune of Diplo’s “Welcome to the Party,” the video highlights the vehicle’s highly capable 310 horsepower, 3.6L V6 engine.

While one unfortunate guitarist gets left out of the XT6 because of a child’s car seat in the Russo production, Cadillac is proud to boast about the XT6’s segment-leading 37.2-inch standard third-row headroom and 78.7 cubic feet of max cargo space behind the first row.

Cadillac offers two trim levels for the XT6. The Premium Luxury option comes decked out with interior décor upgrades, including wooden accents, the Sport package receives upgraded wheels and a twin-clutch sport control AWD system.

With “Crew Ready,” Cadillac and the Russo brothers have shown that Cadillac may be synonymous with luxury, but that doesn’t mean their cars aren’t fun. To get up close and personal with all of Cadillac’s extraordinary vehicles, look no further than ELCO Chevrolet Cadillac.

The 2019 Cadillac XT4 luxury SUV stands out in its segment for its sophisticated styling, impressive performance, and advanced technology. Here are five things we love about the new Cadillac XT4:

  1. The powerful turbocharged engine: The Cadillac XT4 takes its power from a turbocharged four-cylinder that cranks out 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.
  2. An intuitive infotainment system: Cadillac’s User Experience infotainment system is miles ahead of its competitors. Cadillac’s system uses physical buttons and knobs instead of using unreliable touchscreen controls. The system, with an 8-inch screen, is very easy to use and comes with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility.
  3. More rear space: Rear-seat passengers can enjoy more room in the back than they could in competing compact and subcompact SUVs. The XT4 boasts best-in-class rear legroom at 39.5 inches.
  4. Maximum comfort: The inviting leather seating and advanced climate system make the ride in the XT4 highly pleasant. But the comfortable ride depends on more than just that. The 2019 Cadillac XT4 also includes available Active Sport Suspension with adaptive shock absorbers, which make the ride even more smooth and calm.

Most Famous Cadillacs Featured in Movies

Famous Cadillacs featured in movies

When it came to lookin’ good in classic American movies, filmmakers knew a surefire way how to do it: shine a spotlight on a cool and classy Cadillac vehicle. Few vehicles have gained as much fame from the movies as Cadillacs, where they have been driven by Hollywood’s greatest actors. Here are some of the most famous Cadillacs featured in movies.

The Big Wheel (1949)

The Big Wheel pays homage to American auto racing with its main character, Mickey Rooney, gunning for a career in motorsports. In a movie that heavily features cars, one stands out in particular — Rooney’s sleek 1941 Cadillac Series 62 convertible coupe.

Pink Cadillac (1989)

The Big Wheel is not the only film to feature a Series 62 convertible. Pink Cadillac refers to the same model. In this film, Clint Eastwood — as a bounty hunter — pursues a woman on the run in her husband’s pink Cadillac.

Driving Miss Daisy (1989)

In Driving Miss Daisy, one of Daisy’s cars is a white 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special.

Ghostbusters (1984)

This comedy involves the titular group employing a 1959 Cadillac ambulance to travel to all their ghostbusting endeavors.

Feel like a celebrity yourself when you stop in at ELCO Cadillac for a test-drive.

Aretha Franklin’s Cadillac LaSalle Hearse Also Once Transported Her Father and Rosa Parks

Cadillac
Aretha Franklin’s Cadillac LaSalle hearse has also been used in ceremonies for her father, Rev. C.L. Franklin; for David Ruffin, and Rosa Parks.

Not all Cadillac vehicles are meant for everyday use. One the rare occasion, a special one might be tucked away for very particular intentions. One such vehicle lives in Detroit, where it has been stored safely for decades when not in use. This special Cadillac is a white, vintage LaSalle hearse. Cadillac built this hearse in 1940, with two doors, three speeds, and a shifter in the steering column.

The vintage Cadillac LaSalle hearse is a gorgeous vehicle that has been dusted off for use in honoring some remarkable lives. Most recently, the LaSalle hearse was used to transport Aretha Franklin during her public viewing and memorial in Detroit. Aretha Franklin’s Cadillac LaSalle hearse has also been used in ceremonies for her father, Rev. C.L. Franklin; for David Ruffin, a member of Motown vocal group the Temptations; and Rosa Parks.

The Cadillac LaSalle hearse is owned by the Swanson Funeral Home, who purchased the vehicle back in 1958. The same driver typically drives the vehicle throughout the past 30 years, though on this particular event, it was O’Neil D. Swanson, the president of the funeral home, who took the wheel.

The Cadillac LaSalle is a beautiful and classic Detroit icon just as the Queen of Soul was a Detroit icon herself, so many viewers — including us at ELCO Cadillac — were touched to see this perfect fit come together for her public viewing.

Three Classic Country Songs Inspired by Cadillac

Three Classic Country Songs Inspired by Cadillac

Few brands have captured the American imagination quite like Cadillac. From film to literature, Cadillac vehicles have appeared in high places — and sometimes low ones — across the country’s cultural history. It might be in the rich world of country music that the Cadillac shines brightest.

We’re all big fans of both good ol’ Americana country and a classic Cadillac here at ELCO Cadillac, so here’s our three favorite country songs inspired by Cadillac vehicles:

“The Ride” by David Allen Coe

Mr. Coe is “thumbing from Montgomery” when a stranger picks him up in an “antique Cadillac,” and the rest is country music history. From its deep, Southern riffs to its old-fashioned country-gothic lyrics, American music doesn’t get much better than “The Ride.”

“One Piece at a Time” by Johnny Cash

What list of Americana music would be complete without an entry from the one-and-only Johnny Cash? In this beloved hit, he pines for a “long and black” Cadillac of his own so deeply that he sneaks the car out of the factory in which he works, you guessed it, “one piece at a time.”

“Cadillac Red” by The Judds

Ladies, if you’re “full of high octane,” this one is for you. The Judds’ song is an homage to a mysterious and powerful red-haired woman, lovingly called “Cadillac Red,” and her adventures with her female comrades behind the wheel of a Cadillac of her very own.

If you also love these songs and find that their longing for a Cadillac calls out to you, visit us at ELCO Cadillac and take a look at our showroom
